Welcome to Functional Quantum Materials Laboratory (FQML) at UTEP Chemistry
About
FQML is a highly interdisciplinary group driven by imagination, innovation, and knowledge (not necessarily in the same order) and works on revolutionary fundamental science for the betterment of society.
Our Research
Our research aims to bridge and interface chemistry, materials physics, and nanotechnology to develop unique quantum structures and devices. We investigate pathways to tailor the charge and spins of a wide range of quantum systems and explore the effects of charge/spin modulation on their fundamental properties. The overarching goal is to devise new synthetic pathways for quantum structures, engineer their properties, and leverage them for applications in quantum science, energy, analytics, environmental remediation, and biomedicine.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” – Albert Einstein.
