Open Positions

Graduate Students

We are always looking for motivated and talented students interested in pursuing graduate studies (both at MS and PhD levels) in an interdisciplinary research environment. Please refer to the research page to know more about our research. The interdisciplinary projects will provide training and knowledge in chemistry, physics, and material science. We accept students primarily through the Dept. of Chemistry or Environmental Science and Engineering programs.

We currently have positions available in quantum science, spectroscopy, catalysis, and a hybrid project involving DFT-based theoretical analysis and experimental validation. Candidates with strong physics or physical chemistry backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

If interested, please contact Dr. Sree by email with the following materials:

1) Your CV with a publication list (if any).

2) A one-page personal statement about your research interests/plans and career goals.

To know more about the official application process, please refer to http://graduate.utep.edu/prospective.html

Immediate opening: A fully funded position through NSF PREM program is available for a highly talented individual in the multidisciplinary field of material chemistry and nanoengineering/nanoscience. To apply, the candidate must be a US citizen with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Please contact Dr. Sree for more information.

Undergraduate Students

Students from chemistry, material science, and other programs interested in analytical chemistry, environmental science, energy, and biosensors, are encouraged to contact Dr. Sree. We are looking to host students in course-directed research and summer research programs. US citizens are encouraged to apply, as there might be funded positions through the NSF PREM program.

Other potential funding opportunities are:

  • MARC program (Minority to Access Research Careers)
  • LSAMP program
  • NIH BUILDing Scholars Scholarship
  • UTEP COURI Program
  • RISE program, UTEP
